| Episode Eight - Boys with Toys A few people have contacted us regarding our "installing the culvert" episode. Most of the concern was usually a result of having tuned in late and missing the explanation as to why it was necessary. Several years ago the original owner wanting to gain direct access to the main land simply filled in the small channel and installed a small metal culvert. This was done over 50 years ago before there were environmental concerns. As a result over the years the small lake turned into a dead pond and rose to almost 2 feet higher than the main lake. Eventually, within the past few years, the metal culvert rusted and collapsed, restricting any flow. During flash rainstorms the small lake would rise quickly and it wasn't unheard of to find dead fish all over the drive. Opening up the channel permantently was no longer an option and so the only solution was to replace the metal culvert. The Weekend Guy is shot in real time...and so things are not always perfect. That is why so many viewers continue to tune in each week. The show is refreshing, informative and entertaining. Okay, there were a few obstacles that may had been avoided and a followup on air might have reduced viewer's concern. Unfortunately, when installing the culvert we did not have the opportunity to return with the camera to show that things were fixed. The culvert diameter was reduced and an extension was put on with a box over the end to prevent the beavers from stopping the flow. The end result...the water flows in spite of the beavers' attempt to stop it. The fish are happy and stay in the water and the small lake is once again showing signs of life. All is well. Thanks for watching. 'til the week ends. The Weekend Guy
